Exactly 10 years ago, The Used’s “In Love & Death” was released into stores back when stores were real. This was the first major commercial job that I had worked on at that point and over the course of those 6 months, I learned more than Bill & Ted learned over the course of two films and hundreds of years of time travel. Quinn hunted me down and flew me to LA while they were in the middle of recording the album and we all hit it off instantly. Jeph, Bert, Branden and Quinn took me in like a hungry little art puppy and fed me ideas until I was so full that I had no choice but to vomit out drawings after drawings. Using the songs and their experiences as inspiration, together we created almost 20 different album covers and concepts (some made it to the inside booklet), and moments before the very last meeting with the label I had one last idea that I felt encompassed the whole album and the whole band at that time since I had been spending so much time with them. This is what came out of those last few minutes, and it’s one of the pieces of artwork that I am extremely proud of. We continued to work together side by side for 5 straight years following this album release and I continue to be proud of Quinn, Jeph, Bert, Branden and Dan to this day. Thank you @theused . Love you dudes.

I was asked to make fun of @sirmitchell at #Mondocon but I chose to fantasize about him instead and draw my ideal Mike, or at least the Mike that would make me laugh hysterically every time we went in the spa. Because that’s the kind of thing we do I think. In my fantasy. Go follow the human @sirmitchell he’s one of us. (And featured in the @zerofriendsart book!)
I’m still pretty oozing with smiles from #Mondocon and still and have some photos to post. But none of them will be cooler or nerdier than this photo, shot by @thenerdfu. This was the moment, on our Designing Movies panel, that I got to tell Bernie Wrightson that I have had my Creepshow comic by my side since the day my dad got it for me when I was 9, and not only did I get to show it to him, but he signed it in 3 places just in case it kept falling more apart. It was the best. I’m happy. Thanks @mondotees for the assist, and letting me slam dunk my childhood in Bernie’s beautiful face. #zerofriends
